{"id":532,"date":"2017-06-18T16:29:57","date_gmt":"2017-06-18T16:29:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cordwainer.co.uk\/?p=532"},"modified":"2017-06-18T16:29:57","modified_gmt":"2017-06-18T16:29:57","slug":"cordwainer-councilman-knighted-in-birthday-honours","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cordwainer.co.uk\/?p=532","title":{"rendered":"Cordwainer Councilman knighted in Birthday Honours"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cordwainer Common Councilman and Former Policy Chairman of the City of London Corporation, Mark Boleat, was\u00a0awarded a knighthood in the 2017 Birthday Honours for his contribution to the financial services industry in the UK and to local government in London.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-129 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/cordwainer.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Mark-Boleat-2-3-e1465155694723-246x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cordwainer.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Mark-Boleat-2-3-e1465155694723-246x300.jpg 246w, https:\/\/cordwainer.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Mark-Boleat-2-3-e1465155694723-841x1024.jpg 841w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/>Mark was the Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee at the City Corporation from 2012-2017. He finished his full five year term on 4 May 2017 and is currently Deputy Policy Chairman at the City Corporation.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Boleat said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI am honoured to receive this knighthood and it has been a privilege to serve my full term of five years as Policy Chairman. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIn that time I have seen the Square Mile and wider financial and professional services sector go from strength to strength. I hope that my work as Chairman has made sure the City\u2019s voice has been heard loudly and clearly by Government on both domestic issues and of course, Brexit. I also hope that my work has meant the City contributed in some way in supporting education, employment, culture and the many other features that make London the greatest city in the world.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Current Policy Chairman Catherine McGuinness said:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMark Boleat\u2019s knighthood for his services to the City is truly deserved.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u201cThe experience and expertise that he brought from the world of business before becoming Policy Chairman meant he was able to act as a powerful and knowledgeable advocate for the Square Mile.
